After the completion of a
player/small group evaluation, a program is formulated to best challenge both the
individual and group development. Level 2 is a program designed to introduce the
individual and small group to basic team concepts and strategies. Level 2 is also a
continuation of the Level 1 itinerary in terms of individual development.
Below is a list of the team concepts and objectives covered in Level
2:
Applied Offensive & Defensive Technical Skills:
- Coordinate ball and player movement.
- Teach each player to understand his/her relation to the movement of
his/her teammates.
- Educate players on their respective roles and team continuity in
transition to fast break opportunities.
- Teach players their respective roles and expectations from fast break
offense to control set offenses.
- Ability to acknowledge defensive formations and attack them
successfully.
- Importance of taking only high percentage shots.
- Attaining a high level ``possession percentage``
- (Number of times a team has possession of the ball, divided into the
number of times the team loses a ball by a bad pass, tied up held ball, or offensive
foul).
- Learning to play without the ball effectively.
